Hanacaraka; One of the nation's wealth of Java that’s still preserved

If in Japan we know Hiragana or Kanji, in Korean there is Hangeul, and in Middle East we know about Arabic, in Indonesia is also has a symbol or language that be used by Javanese ethnic, it’s known with Hanacaraka or Aksara Jawa (Javanese Script). We can see the form of Hanacaraka from the picture, which is general form of Ha Na Ca Ra Ka.

Named of Hanacaraka is taking from the first five letters. Hanacaraka is the part of Java Culture, in Java Island especially for Central Java and Yogyakarta. There are subject in every school, from elementary school until high school that studying Aksara Jawa. Unfortunately, many people thinking that Hanacaraka is not important and unuseful from their future. Hanacaraka is on the verge of extinction now.

Hanacaraka has been recognized by UNICODE (one of the institutions in the auspices of UNESCO which handles the standard character code on a computer in the world) since 2009. We can use Hanacaraka into the font in our computer; this is like Hiragana, Hangeul and Arabic.

Hanacarka is growing from Mataram Kingdom in 17th century until now; the government must develop a java script in order to stay sustainability. This is because Indonesia has been transition into modern era, and if the government does not suppress the growth rate of modernization, it will be harmful for local culture.
